Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide on-call support to support and configure mobile very small aperture terminals (MVSAT) deployed for contingency connectivity purposes and re-route network traffic from remote fixed facilities to a different hub site when the Sector premise router is down.
  • Maintain routers on board Coast Guard cutters to include routine password updates, firmware upgrades and other tasks to maintain compliance to secure configuration baseline.
  • Configure and maintain visibility on the status and deployment of contingency VPN routers used to access the Coast Guard's network.
  • Provide updates to documentation on triaging internet connectivity issues related to traffic traversing the Joint Regional Security Stacks and DISA Internet Access Points.
  • Complete recurring maintenance and troubleshooting on all deployable contingency equipment at the Coast Guard Communications Command.
  • Required to interface with various internal CG and DHS service providers on a wide range of issues such as Networks and Networking Equipment, Email, Domain Controllers (DC), Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS), Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), contingency support and various other IT system management software and tools.

Education/Certifications:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance (Interim permitted), High School diploma or equivalent and at least 3 Network Administrator JD years’ experience providing technical support for both hardware and software issues on an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system. Computing Environment (CE) or Operating System (OS) related certification.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

• Demonstrated ability to manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems

• Demonstrated ability to monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns

• Demonstrated ability to Create and verify backups of data.

• Demonstrated ability to perform data collection integrity and validate proper results.

• Demonstrated ability Respond to and resolve help desk requests.

• Demonstrated ability to upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.

• Strong understanding of Administrate infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, malware protection software and other processes.

• Demonstrated ability to review application logs.

• Demonstrated ability Install and test computer-related equipment.

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communications skills.

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

  • Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and transition between projects
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in teams
  • Former US Coast Guard or Navy experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds above the waist

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
  • Perform other duties as assigned
