Job Description:

Position Summary: Perform hardware and software system administration on all personnel and classroom computers, servers, fax machines, satellite receivers, switches, routers, printers, and other peripherals critical to the proper function of Minot AFB BTES technology systems.

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish timelines for all maintenance functions
  • Manage operating systems, providing software upgrades, data separation, equipment maintenance, database maintenance, system back up, equipment modifications, replacements, etc.
  • Implement new software/hardware systems as required by the Education Center Section Chief.
  • Set up new computers and other information systems in a timely manner
  • Provide networking architecture recommendations and networking support to improve the Education Center network as directed by the Education Center Section Chief.
  • Serves as a liaison for the DSN host address, LAN connectivity, and education and academic support
  • Schedule and conduct virtual training courses
  • Administer tests with specific guidance and testing procedures
  • Responds to all communications and inquiries
  • Establish procedures for safeguarding all critical data
  • Monitor and document all information systems
  • Provide for safe migration of important data from one system to another
  • Research and provide recommendations for the purchase of all information systems and components required to improve the existing structure.
  • Educate personnel on proper security procedures to protect sensitive data and records
  • Perform any other critical system support as requested by the Education Center Section Chief
  • Monitor the operation of automated programs
  • Monitor computer related supplies and ensure replacements are on handProvide on-the-job automation training for staff and respond to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors
  • Conduct an annual inventory of computer equipment/software
  • Coordinate the disposal of obsolete inventory with proper documentation and authorization

Education/Certifications:

Associate degree, or higher, in an IT field required or a proven 3-5 years of IT experience.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • Knowledge of computer operating systems, programming languages, and client/server networking environments is required.
  • Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer
  • Must be able to install and operate multi-media software using stand-alone or networked computers
  • Must be able to troubleshoot software, hardware, and cabling problems

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

  • A+, Network+, or Security+ certification preferred
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in teams
