Position Summary:  

You will be part of a multi-faceted collaborative team responsible for supporting the Work for Warriors program.  This program enhances the well-being of National Guard, Reservists, Veterans, Active Duty, and their Families by mitigating unemployment and under-employment issues that negatively impact their lives. We empower clients by developing employment opportunities including career guidance, job skills assessments, resume development and interview skills. This program advocates the benefits of hiring the military; identifies regional employment opportunities; apprenticeship programs; and partners with ESGR and WorkSource for job and hiring events. 

Essential Job Functions:  

  • Serve as primary contacts for the Outreach Program will perform approved functions of non-accredited US Department of Veterans Affairs VSO-R. 
  • Serve as the information conduit for employment assistance to units, individuals, and families at pre-mobilization events and throughout the deployment cycle.  
  • Provide referral to State Education Office for information on military educational benefits as they apply to local trade schools and academic institutions. 
  • Establish and maintain a tracking system for initial needs assessment survey. 
  • Provide transitioning Soldiers with opportunity to participate in or opt out of a program that consists of complete transition assistance packets including, MOS crosswalk and gap analysis, individual transition plans, job application packets and career tracks for either school, employment, or entrepreneurship plans.  
  • Attend specialized training courses, seminars, and meetings to maintain awareness of information and resources supporting initiatives for Service Members.  
  • Provide those eligible with program materials and information related to a variety of programs assisting Veterans and their families. 
  • Privacy Act & HIPPA Regulations shall be strictly followed to ensure confidentiality and right to privacy is maintained. 
  • Develop programs to measure the effectiveness of advertising and marketing programs. 

Education/Certifications: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 

Required Knowledge/Experience: 

  • Possess Army/Air Guard experience 
  • Must be able to identify all community resources available to Service and Family members within their assigned geographical area 
  • Be knowledgeable regarding other services available through WANG State Family Program Office and provide referrals and information resources as necessary 
  • Track and monitor for preparation of monthly reporting, provide a written report of all meetings attended 
  • Ability to proofread, edit, and make changes to documents. 

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:  

  • Technical writing experience or resume writing preferred

  • Perform other duties as assigned
